QUEEN, ELTON JOHN AND DURAN DURAN TO PERFORM AT PLATINUM JUBILEE CONCERT

DIANA ROSS, ROD STEWART, NILE RODGERS, EUROVISION HERO SAM RYDER AND MANY MORE WILL ALSO TAKE PART IN NEXT MONTH’S EVENT

So, unfortunately THAT poster that was doing the rounds on Twitter was not true, and Napalm Death, Limp Bizkit and Wu Tang Clan will not be performing for HRH The Queen. But the actual line-up is still pretty decent!

The full line-up features Queen + Adam Lambert, Jax Jones, Mabel, Stefflon Don, Elbow, Craig David, George Ezra, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mimi Webb, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sir Elton John, Diversity, Sam Ryder, Sir Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Celeste, Sigala & Ella Eyre, Mica Paris and Diana Ross.

The special event dubbed the ‘Platinum Party At The Palace’ will take place on Saturday June 4th, to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s landmark 70 years on the throne. The show will take place in front of Buckingham Palace, and 22’000 people will be in attendance. For those of us unlucky enough not to get tickets, we can tune in at home on BBC One, iPlayer and Radio Two. Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp will be on presenting duties.

Brian May, guitar player for Queen and all round legend, previously had hinted that the band may be involved. During an interview in April with BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball, May said “I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you this but I think something might happen.”

“There is talk of something happening. What can I tell you? We may be there, we may actually be there. Of course, it’s hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible.”

If only…

The latter comment was of course referring to his performance as part of the 2002 Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

Queen + Adam Lambert are scheduled to open the show, with Diana Ross set to close the event. While Elton John will provide a pre-recorded performance as he is currently out on his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ world tour.

Along side the musical performers, there will be appearances from a host of figures from the worlds of TV and film, including Sir David Attenborough, Stephen Fry, and Dame Julie Andrews.

If you were hoping to get tickets, sadly you’ve already missed out. Ten-thousand tickets were made available to the public via a ballot, with 7’500 being offered to key workers, charity workers, volunteers and members of the Armed Forces.
