Stephen Wicks Sounds the Alarm With “The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds To Midnight)”

Stephen Wicks is preparing to release one of his most urgent and ambitious songs yet with “The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds To Midnight),” a rock single that confronts the fears shaping modern society. Built around the image of humanity standing dangerously close to midnight, the track takes inspiration from the symbolic Doomsday Clock maintained by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

The song addresses some of the most pressing issues facing the world today, including climate change, nuclear proliferation, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical instability. Rather than treating these subjects as distant headlines, Wicks uses the track to create a sense of immediacy, turning global anxiety into a dramatic musical statement.

At 74, Wicks has made a striking transition from corporate executive and property entrepreneur to singer-songwriter. His move from boardrooms to recording studios reflects a lifelong connection to music composition and a belief that creative reinvention is possible at any stage of life.

The single was produced with acclaimed British producer George Shilling, whose credits include work with Blur, Primal Scream, and Steve Winwood. Lead guitar is performed by Stefan Hauk, recognised as one of Australia’s most exciting young guitarists, adding extra force to the recording’s cinematic rock sound.

“The Doomsday Clock (85 Seconds To Midnight)” will also be accompanied by an official music video, designed to visually capture the relentless ticking of time and the fragility of the world at risk. With the release, Stephen Wicks positions himself not only as a late-career songwriter, but as an artist using music to deliver a warning about humanity’s future.
