How important is the visual element of music? (Album covers, music videos etc.)

“I think for most listeners the visual element enhances their overall experience of the music. For me personally the music has always come first. If I like what I hear I am more inclined to check out the artist and their visual content.”

How important is music journalism considering the influence of streaming platforms and user-tailored playlists like ‘made for you’ on Spotify?

“I think music journalism is very important. It helps keep enthusiasts informed about a new artists and music in the industry. It also helps highlight artists that could very easily get lost in the forever endless streaming sea of music that’s available today.”

What’s the hardest thing that every musician must face?

“Figuring out how to navigate through the industry in an effort to get their music heard.”

Have you ever had any instances where you felt like giving up the dream of music?

“No, I’ve had to take a break or two due to outside circumstances but never wanted to quit playing music.”  

How did you get into music in the first place?

“Being influenced by my friends and current bandmates.”

Did you have other goals/dreams if it wasn’t going to be music?

“If I did they were fleeting.” 

How do you spend most of your spare time outside of music?

“With family, friends and looking for new adventures”

If you could share the stage with a deceased music star who would it be and why?

“Dusty Hill, bass player from the band ZZ Top, to say I got to play a blues shuffle in the key of C with one of the best.”

What’s your method for discovering new music?

“Going to any and all live music venues whenever and wherever I can.”
